THE SUBJECT EXPERTS GOALS

1. SELF – DIRECTED LEARNING

In which Students take responsibility for their own learning goals and outcomes. Through the program, students are put in an environment of LEARNING AT THEIR OWN PACE where they are able to achieve this goal.

2. MASTERY

In an environment where they are allowed to learn at their own pace, students have the opportunity to master the understanding and skills in the subject. This then leads to more confidence and ownership of their own learning and hence a greater interest in the subjects.

3. BUILDING A STRONG FOUNDATION

The program works because of the focus on a strong understanding and foundation of the topics they learn through the worksheets. Students who undergo this program and abide by the program’s rules are set to go above and beyond the school level in the program within 2 to 3 years.

ACHIEVING THE GOALS

In order to achieve the above goals, the following criteria MUST be met without compromise for the student to fully benefit from this program.

1. CONSISTENT STUDY

Consistent study refers to an uninterrupted study schedule be it during the holidays or school exams. Students MUST continue to practice the workbooks on a regular basis. Taking back worksheets to do at home also achieves this as the students will review them in the next class.

This also means that students are responsible for staying consistent with the right attitudes and habits in order to achieve their goals through the program.

2. REPETITION

The Subject Experts program is designed with repetition being at the core of mastery. So much so that it is not uncommon for booklets to be repeated at an average of 6 – 8 times to ensure mastery of the topic.

Repetition also eventually leads to independence as students learn that they have the capacity to solve problems on their own when given the right amount of opportunities to do so.

3. STARTING AT A LOW LEVEL

Starting at the Subject Experts also means that the student must start at a level at which they need to master before going on to more advanced topics. This ensures a strong foundation at the basics to be able to proceed to the next level. Students only proceed if they pass the level tests. Criteria for passing Level Tests for both Math and English are: 90% and above and within time Limit.
